These two extraordinary, large chandeliers date from the eighteenth century and have been modified in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Each has eight branches heavily decorated with glass pendants, molded crystal and blue and orange glass decorations of very nice quality. These are classic Genoese chandeliers that will be the focal point of a room. Both have beige passementerie for the tops. 

One of the reasons why chandeliers were made with glass and crystals was to mirror and diffuse the light more - so it wasn't just an aesthetic approach.

Condition -

They are an unidentical pair with subtle differences - one has more orange and blue pendants, the other has some beads have been replaced with pink and blue glass beads. Minor losses including string beads around the amber pendants, some pendants in general. The gilded timber column has minor losses and wear - refer to detailed photos. Some chips to the edges of the pendants. Modifications were made during the nineteenth and twentieth century - for example, pendants were added and replaced and it was electrified with 'French wiring' running on the outside of the branches.
